Becoming savvier consumers of information, together

Falsehoods are fueling societal division, fear and conflict worldwide.

People are tired of confusion, drama and not knowing which sources of information they can trust. Digital platforms are changing quickly, and so are the ways bad actors manipulate them.

It’s a lot for people to sort out.

Truth in Common translates disinformation and social division research into skills people can use at home, at work and in the community. Through workshops, a newsletter, talks and partnerships, we create safe, brave spaces where people learn about today’s information ecosystem, how to access the information they need and how to feel comfortable talking about the issues again — respectfully.

With a little guidance, we can all be part of the solution. Because we need all hands on deck to protect our communities and our democracy.

Join us to learn how.

Workshops & Talks

Truth in Common’s nonpartisan workshops fosters understanding of disinformation and social division and build skills to better navigate media, digital platforms and discourse. We use respectful facilitation and a curriculum that draws on best practices in communications, behavior change, bridging and cybersecurity research.

Designed for older students and adults of all ages, the goal of our in-person and virtual learning experiences is to facilitate fact-based decision making — NOT to influence the decisions folks ultimately make.

Insights

We explore some of the more perplexing disinformation and propaganda campaigns — along with stories of hope — in the Truth in Common newsletter.

Community

We work to continue to build community through reconvenings and other ways to continue the conversation after workshop series are over.

“This series has really made me think about how I scroll through social media. I used to just like everything; now I pause. I’m more thoughtful.”

— Truth in Common workshop participant

“This is blowing my mind.”

— Attendee, Truth in Common session at IABC World Conference, 2021
